Giant salmon descends on Eugene Saturday Market

Save Our Wild Salmon launched its 2007 Extinction Stops Here! Road Show for Salmon Recovery in Eugene, Oregon today. SOWS staffer Bobby Hayden was on hand with “FIN”, a 25-foot King Salmon that travels on a trailer. For a month in June and July, FIN will tour the west coast, stopping at festivals, farmer’s markets, coastal communities, county fairs, and other locations to educate the public and build support for recovering salmon by removing the four lower Snake River dams.

SOWS and FIN shared the “Free Speech Plaza” in Downtown Eugene with booths advocating marijuana legalization, fringe presidential candidates, 9/11 conspiricists and rapping tweakers. Welcome to Eugene, Oregon — another day, another giant salmon-mobile rolling down the street.
